Dana Eden, Co-Creator of Apple TV’s ‘Tehran,’ Found Dead in Athens
Israeli television producer Dana Eden, best known for co-creating the Apple TV spy thriller ‘Tehran’, was found dead in a hotel room in Athens on Sunday. Greek authorities confirmed her death while the show’s fourth season was being filmed, and police are treating the case as a suspected suicide, according to Reuters. Eden was 52 years old.
Police reportedly entered the hotel after a relative raised concerns when they could not contact her. Authorities have not indicated any signs of foul play, and the investigation is ongoing. No additional details about the precise cause of death have been released.
Eden was widely celebrated in Israel’s television industry for bringing Israeli storytelling to international audiences. She rose to prominence as co-creator and producer of ‘Tehran’, which follows Mossad agent Tamar Rabinyan on a high-stakes mission in Iran. Since Israelis cannot film in Iran, much of the series has been shot in Athens, where Eden was overseeing production of the latest season.
In 2021, ‘Tehran’ won the International Emmy Award for Best Drama Series, cementing Eden’s status as one of Israel’s most influential producers. Her production company, Dana and Shula Productions, mourned her passing, describing it as a profound loss for family, friends, and colleagues.
Following the news, Israel’s public broadcaster Kan issued a tribute, praising Eden’s dedication to storytelling and her lasting impact on the country’s creative landscape.
