Brian Elliott Obituary: Beech Grove Mourns Officer Killed in Line of Duty
The city of Beech Grove is grieving the tragic loss of Brian Elliott, a dedicated police officer fatally shot while responding to a disturbance at the Beech Meadow Apartments on Monday evening.
Authorities reported that Elliott and a fellow officer were dispatched to the scene when a suspect opened fire, critically wounding Elliott. He was rushed to Eskenazi Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries. A second officer was also injured in the incident but is expected to recover.
The suspect, identified by law enforcement, remains at large. In response, the Indiana State Police issued a Blue Alert and coordinated a multi-agency manhunt, deploying helicopters, closing streets, and urging local residents to stay vigilant.
A Beech Grove native, Elliott had served just over a year with the Beech Grove Police Department and previously worked with the Marion County Sheriff’s Department.
