Stuart “Stu” Wilson Death: Silksworth, EN Royal British Legion Member Passes Away at 52

The Silksworth community is mourning the loss of Stuart “Stu” Wilson, a respected member of the Royal British Legion, who passed away peacefully at Sunderland Royal Hospital on 2 February 2026. He was 52 years old.

Stu was a devoted son to Elizabeth and the late Harry, a loving partner to Helen, and a proud father to Jack, Georgia, and Matthew. He was also a caring stepfather to Jayden and a cherished brother to Christopher and Michael. Beyond his immediate family, he was a treasured grandad, uncle, nephew, and brother-in-law whose warmth and loyalty touched many lives.

Known throughout Silksworth for his kind heart and unwavering support for others, Stu was an active and respected member of the Royal British Legion. The Legion was a special place for him, where he formed lasting friendships and shared in the spirit of camaraderie and service. Friends and fellow members remember him as someone who was always ready with a helping hand, a word of encouragement, or a bit of humour to lift spirits.

His passing has left a deep void in the hearts of family, friends, and the wider community. Tributes continue to highlight his generous nature, strong family values, and the comfort he brought to those around him.

A funeral service will be held at Sunderland Crematorium on Thursday, 5 March 2026, at 3:30pm. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend and later gather at The Legion in Silksworth to celebrate Stu’s life. Family flowers only are requested, with donations in support of the Royal British Legion.

Stuart “Stu” Wilson will be very sadly missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
