Linda Edwards, Co-Founder of Blueberry Hill Restaurant and Music Club, Dies at 78

Linda Edwards, co-founder and longtime window dresser of the iconic Blueberry Hill Restaurant and Music Club, has died at the age of 78. Edwards passed away Sunday, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the vibrant cultural and entertainment scene of Delmar Loop.

In 1972, Linda and her husband, Joe Edwards, opened Blueberry Hill, a venue that would grow into one of the most influential live music destinations in the region. The restaurant and music club is widely credited with helping spark the redevelopment movement that transformed the Delmar Loop into a bustling hub of dining, entertainment, and nightlife over the decades.

While Blueberry Hill became renowned for its live performances and eclectic atmosphere, Linda Edwards made her own unique mark behind the scenes. In 1986, she began designing the venue’s distinctive storefront window displays, a creative endeavor that became her signature contribution. Over the years, her ever-changing displays captivated passersby with their originality and artistry.

“Some were whimsical. Some were serious. Some were weird and wonderful,” Joe Edwards said Monday during a phone call from Blueberry Hill. “Her attention to detail on those display windows rivaled anything that the department stores ever did back in the ‘40s and ‘50s. That was where she could put all her creative talents to work. It meant the world to her.”

Through her vision and dedication, Linda Edwards helped shape not only the personality of Blueberry Hill but also the identity of the Delmar Loop itself. Her creativity and influence will be remembered by the countless patrons and community members who experienced the magic she brought to life in every window display.
